2. History of Dakshineswar Kali Temple

Built in 1855, Dakshineswar Kali Temple became especially renowned through its association with the 19th-century mystic Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, who served as a priest here. The temple complex includes twelve subsidiary Shiva shrines along the riverbank and remains one of Kolkata's most visited pilgrimage sites.
