2. History of Mahabodhi Temple

Mahabodhi Temple stands beside the descendant of the original Bodhi Tree, under which Siddhartha Gautama is believed to have attained enlightenment. Portions of the temple date back over 1,400 years, making it one of the earliest surviving Buddhist brick structures in India, and it remains a major pilgrimage site for Buddhists worldwide.
