2. History of Kedarnath Temple
Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and sits at an elevation of over 3,500 metres in the Garhwal Himalayas. Legend attributes its establishment to the Pandavas, and the temple has withstood centuries of harsh Himalayan weather, remaining a major pilgrimage destination that opens only for a few months each year due to heavy snowfall.

Open seasonally, typically from late April/early May to early November, with daily darshan from around 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Accessible via a trek of about 16-18 km from Gaurikund, which is connected by road to Rishikesh; helicopter services are also available seasonally.
